Isaiah 9:2-7

Titus 2:11-14
Luke 2:1-20

“Scripture Hymn (Volume II) 324” by Charles Wesley

Sing all in heaven at Jesu’s birth
“Glory to God, and peace on earth,
The heart of God through Christ is seen
In mercy and goodwill to men!”

Reflection: We don’t often turn to Titus, one of the shortest books of the Bible. But today’s reading is especially important. Our waiting does not stop on Christmas Eve or even Christmas Day. True, the time has come to celebrate the birth of our Lord some two thousand years ago. But even today, as we sing Christmas carols and worship in candlelight services, we still wait for Christ’s return. Our world still needs the full “manifestation of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Prayer: Call us to the manger to worship you, Lord Jesus. Then send us into the world to proclaim the good news: “Jesus Christ is born!” Amen.
